TV Reception and Landscaping Programs
In 2021, as part of our commitment to local communities, Biala Wind Farm introduced two programs for nearby residents:
1. A TV Reception Program, aimed at improving TV reception; and,
2. A Landscaping Program, designed to mitigate the visual impacts of the wind farm.
TV Reception Program
The TV Reception Program was available to residents within the eligibility area, regardless of whether or not their reception was affected by Biala Wind Farm. Eligible residents received up to two VAST boxes free of charge. Some residents’ homes were also fitted with a new, standard sized aerial to their rooftop.
More than 70 residents have benefited from the TV Reception Program since it was implemented in 2021. While the Program formally closed in June 2024, if you live near Biala Wind Farm and are experiencing TV reception issues please contact us here.
Landscaping Program
The Landscaping Program was designed to mitigate the visual impacts of the wind farm in line with the requirements of the wind farm’s development consent. A copy of the development consent can be downloaded from the NSW Government Planning Portal website here. Condition 1 of Schedule 3 relates to this program.
Residents living within 4km of a wind turbine were eligible to apply for one of two options to assist with visual mitigation measures.
More than 20 residents benefited from the Landscaping Program since it was implemented in 2021, before formally closing in August 2024.
